The Benefits of an Extensive Terrestrial Network
Harris CapRock has built a further robust operations platform that is extending its service capabilities into more remote locations around the world and enabling quicker service and support to customers. One of the first steps in building an enhanced operations platform was to interconnect the terrestrial networks of the combining businesses at strategic global locations. The locations were selected based on customers’ central theatres of operation. To-date interconnects have been implemented in EMEA and will be completed for North and South America and Asia Pacific by the fourth quarter of this year.
The new interconnections give Harris CapRock the ability to quickly deploy its enhanced portfolio to customers and we are excited to share that clients are seeing tangible benefits. One of the world’s leading offshore drilling contractors has relied on both former Global Connectivity Services (GCS) and CapRock Communications services for its remote satellite communication requirements; some of its remote sites used one provider’s service, while other remote sites used the alternate provider’s. Recently the client required a solution that leveraged particular services from both former businesses — it needed CapRock’s remote video streaming service capability, combined with GCS’s teleport locations and connectivity for one if its offshore drilling rigs.
The sales and sales engineering teams at Harris CapRock quickly identified the scope of work and kicked off the project the same day the service was requested. Subsequently, the technical teams worked to implement connections between facilities to meet the client needs and configured, tested, and shipped equipment within 24 hours of receiving the request. The customer’s service is now up and running and the end users are pleased to have extended the streaming video capability to an additional drilling rig.
With the terrestrial interconnects put into place, Harris CapRock can easily deploy remote video streaming services (and other applications) to clients’ remote sites regardless if their former equipment and service provider was legacy CapRock, GCS or both.
